The largest object in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter, Ceres may seem at first to be just another floating rock among the remnants of what once was potentially a planet that was the victim of an ancient collision.

After a closer look, however, Ceres has alot of interesting features and anomalies that have scientists and astronomers drooling.

One of the most recognizable anomalies on Ceres is the ‘pyramid’ shaped mountain (which many conspiracy theorists claim was made by an ancient civilisation – however, likely could be just a case of paredolia), which is covered in an extremely shiny material, possibly ice.

It’s still unknown how the surface was formed, however scientists are hopeful to have a much better look once the spacecraft gets to an altitude of 230 miles in December, giving them an opportunity to figure out the riddle of the shiny spots on Ceres’ surface.
