Giant Sinkhole In Queensland Swallows Car, Caravan & Trailer

It's time to ascend.

The sinkhole which is 150m x 150m large, has opened up at Inkskip Point, near Rainbow Beach on Saturday morning.

The sinkhole is now 3 metres deep, taking a large chunk of the MV Beagle camp site.

One of the campers, Melanie Wotherspoon, speaks of the terrifying moment the sinkhole appeared.

“Yep, can’t believe we made it out,” Ms Wotherspoon wrote. “I thought we were goners for sure, was truly scary how fast it came into our camp site and swallowed it up.”

Police and State Emergency Services raced onsite, and thankfully so far noone has been reported missing or injured.

“There is a real possibility the hole could expand with ocean currents, so people are urged to avoid the area, senior ranger Dan Clifton said.
