The alligator has been fondly dubbed ‘Humpback’, and has become a local celebrity. It did not seem to have a care in the world about the group of visitors close by filming his trek.
The sheer size compared to the nearby humans is intimidating.
“He was the biggest gator I have seen out there,” said Kim Joiner, a visitor to the reserve who captured video footage of the encounter. “I have been going out there for years too.”
