Mysterious ‘Booms’ Heard In Connecticut

unexplained phenomena news

Multiple residents in Southeastern Connecticut contacted police Friday morning after hearing what they have described as extremely loud booms.

Stonington police claim they received more than 100 phone calls with reports of hearing 4 loud booms, with the first call starting at just after 9:00 am.

“We live in Ledyard near the Mystic line and our house shook so hard I thought there was an explosion right outside,”  Kathy Dunn said in a Facebook comment.

“I thought ‘oh, maybe we just had an earthquake,'” Fire Chief Kenneth Richards from Old Mystic said.

According to Richards, the sounds came approximately 15 minutes apart. Other people had initially thought a car had hit their house, or something large fell onto their roof, however no one in the area reported any type of explosion or anything else that could possibly have been the cause of the loud sounds, according to police.
