The bright spots which have sparked so much interest in the space community have now been captured in unprecedented detail by NASA’s Dawn Probe.
One of the images form the large Occator Crater shows the central bright region which is the brightest on Ceres. The Dawn probe snapped the image when it was approximately 920 miles above the crater.
While there is still quite an amount of debate over what the bright spots are, scientists are suggesting that the spots may be caused by briny material bubbling up due to volcanic activity.
