Actors involved in the 3 part miniseries reliving the Enfield Poltergeist account are ‘terrified’ from strange occurrences around the set.
Based on one of the most compelling real life accounts of a poltergeist, The Enfield Haunting is an account of the Hodgson familys’ encounter with an evil force, which seemingly possessed their 11 year old daughter Janet.
Executive producer Jamie Campbell revealed: “Every time our photographer came on set his camera broke. It annoyed him, but terrified the rest of us.”
Well known actor Timothy Spall who plays paranormal investigator Maurice Grosse in the drama actually listening to the original recordings of the evil entity talking through Janet, leaving him shaken to the core, himself admitting “It frightened me to death.”
The 3 part drama is adapted from the book ‘This House Is Haunted’ by Guy Lyon Playfair, which was written based on witness accounts, documentation and the spooky recordings of the event – and even nearly 40 years on, still remains one of the most well known and unsolved mysterious and frightening hauntings in British History.
While it’s very arguable the whole drama involving the cameraman onset may just be a little bit of marketing for the film, there is no denying that the real life tale is quite the tale. Regardless, I think i’ll tune in to watch.
