With pollution being an ever increasing issue in China, authorities have struggled to try and regulate the problem by imposing regulatory limits on factories and traffic, to no avail. However, a new approach has been devised by Dutch artist Daan Roosegaarde, which he calls the electronic vacuum cleaner.
The concept behind the device is that it uses static electricity to remove the smog particles from the air. He is hoping to setup a large scale version of the vacuum cleaner in Beijing to demonstrate the effectiveness of the machine.
If it proves successful, it should clear of 2000 square metres of smog, and provide hope for a solution to the ever increasing pollution problem.
