Scientists Stumped Over Oarfish Washed Ashore

It's time to ascend.

 

Within days of each other, 2 of the largest, extremely rare deep sea Oarfish have washed ashore in Southern California. The first, an 18 footer, washed up just off Catalina Island, the second days later, a sizeable 14 footer, washed ashore in Oceanside Harbor.

Widely believed to be the cause of many sea monster stories, the Oarfish drew crowds of people, and eventually The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration came to collect the rare specimens.
